The American Wigeon (Anas americana) is widespread in North America, generally breeding across Canada and the northern half of the United States and wintering in the southern U.S. and Mexico. These two shots of a male and one shot of a female were taken in Tucson, Pima Co., Arizona, in early April, 2003, with a Canon EOS 10D and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens. These were wintering birds which had not yet departed for the breeding grounds. See below for more images. |
The next set of 12 images were taken in Socorro, Socorro Co., New Mexico, in November, 2006 with a Canon EOS 1 D Mark II and EF 100-400 mm F/4.5-5.6 L IS lens.
