The Austral Thrush (Turdus falcklandii) is the southern South American counterpart to the American Robin in the United States. These thrushes are widespread and common over much of southern South America including Argentina, Chile, and the Falkland Islands. The bird shown here was on West Point Island, Falklands, in January, 2004. It was photographed with a Canon 10D and EF 70-20omm F/2.8 L IS lens and 2X extender.
