The Aztec Dancer (Argia nahuana) is a common damselfly of the southwestern U.S., where it occupies a variety of habitats from clear, flowing streams to seepages from ponds to some rivers. The photo here was shot along a clear Texas hill country stream on the Balcones Canyonlands NWR in Travis Co., Texas in June 2003. The image was a digital capture with a Canon EOS 10D and EF 180 Macro lens with a 1.4 extender and a ring flash.
