The Baird's Sandpiper (Calidris bairdii) breeds in the high Arctic tundra and winters in southern South America. During its long and protracted migration it is seen regularly in many areas of the American midwest. The top 7 images of Baird's Sandpipers on this page were taken at Austin, Travis Co., Texas, in April, 2008. These images were shot with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.
