The Blue-ringed Dancer (Argia sedula) is a common yet beautiful damselfly of rivers and streams in the southern two-thirds of the U.S. The top photo here, of a male, was a digital capture with a Canon D60 and EF 300 mm F4 L IS lens with a 1.4X extender and 550 EX flash. The shot was taken along the Frio River in Concan, Uvalde Co., Texas in April 2003.

Below are several other variations of Blue-ringed Dancers, all photographed in Uvalde Co., Texas, in May, 2005, with a Canon EOS 1 D Mark II and EF 180 mm F/3.5 Macro and 580 flash.
