The Black-tailed Jackrabbit (Lepus californicus) is widespread across much of the western United States and Mexico. It is common over much of Texas. The 5 top shots here were all taken in Kenedy Co., Texas in June, 2002, with a Canon EOS 1V and 500mm F/4 L IS lens on Fuji Velvia.

The Black-tailed Jackrabbit below was hiding under a shrub in Presidio Co.,
Texas in September, 2006. This is a digital image taken with a Canon EOS 1D
Mark II and EF 500mm F/4 L IS lens.
