The Buff-bellied Hummingbird
(Amazilia yucatanenensis) is an attractive resident of Texas. Primarily Mexican in distribution, the species ranges into south Texas year round. During the fall and winter it sometimes wanders eastward along the Gulf of Mexico and has been recorded as far afield as Arkansas and Florida. The photos shown here were taken in April, 2000, in Kenedy Co., Texas with a Canon EOS3 and a Canon EF 300 F/2.8 lens and 2X extender and a flash on Fuji Velvia pushed one stop. A Bogen tripod was also used.
