The Cape Glossy Starling (Lamprotornis nitens) is widespread over much of southern Africa. The one shown here was near Satara Camp, in Kruger National Park, Mpumalanga Province, South Africa in January, 2006. The photo was taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II & EF 500mm F/4L IS lens and a 2X extender. The bird is a little ratty looking because it is moulting at this time of year.
