The Cinnamon Teal (Anas cyanoptera) breeds across much of the western United States and winters across much of Texas and Mexico. The species can occur fairly regularly along the Texas Gulf coast and several can usually be found between November and April in the Corpus Christi and Port Aransas area. The photos top two photos of a male on this page were taken at Port Aransas, Nueces Co., Texas in February, 2001 with a Canon EOS 3 and EF 500 F4L IS lens with a 2X extender on Fuji Velvia pushed one stop. A Gitzo tripod and Wimberley head were also used.

The next 4 shots on the left were digital captures at Bear River N.W.R., Box Elder Co., Utah, in June, 2007. These images were shot with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens.

The next 3 shots on the left were taken at Benton Lake N.W.R., Cascade Co., Montana, in June, 2007, with the same gear as described above.

The next 2 shots of a male Cinnamon Teal on the left were taken of a wintering bird in Austin, Travis Co., Texas, in March, 2009, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 800mm F/5.6 L IS lens.
