The Coppery Dancer (Argia cuprea) is essentially a Mexican and Central American damselfly of rivers and streams occurring in the U.S. only in the western portion of the Texas Hill Country. The top photo here was a digital capture with a Canon EOS 10D and EF 300 mm F4 L IS lens with a 1.4 X extender and 550 EX flash in Lost Canyon, Real Co., Texas in May 2003. For more information on this interesting species see the account on the species at Odonata Central.

The below two photos of pairs in tandem were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and an EF 300mm F/4L IS lens with 2x extender and 580EX flash in Bandera Co., Texas in April 2005.
