The Crested Owl (Lophostrix cristata) ranges from s.e. Mexico to Argentina. It is a species of humid, evergreen forests and forest edge. This individual was photographed in Colon, Panama, in March, 1994. A Canon T-90 & FD400 mm F4.5 lens with a Fresnel flash and Kodachrome 64 film was used. The camera and lens were on a BushHawk shoulder mount and hand-held.
