The Desert Firetail (Telebasis salva) is a tiny damselfly of the southwest. The photos here, of a male, were digital captures in Austin, Travis Co., Texas in May 2003 and were shot with a Canon EOS 10D and EF 300 mm F4 L IS lens with a 1.4 extender and 550 EX flash. Some water mites are visible under the abdomen on the 2nd shot below.

 

The below shot was taken in May, 2005, in Medina Co., Texas along Seco Creek near D'Hanis.

The male Desert Firetail below was photographed in southern Tamaulipas, Mexico, in May, 2007.
This image was taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.
