The Dunlin (Calidris alpina) is a small shorebird which breeds in parts of the arctic areas of Canada and Alaska. The species winters along all three coasts of the United States and south into Mexico. The winter plumaged birds in the top five images on the left (also known as basic plumage) were all in Galveston Co., Texas in February, 2007. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.
