The Fiery-eyed Dancer (Argia oenea) is a Mexican damselfly which, until recently, had only been found in the U.S. in Arizona. In May, 2004, one was photographed in the Chinati Mountains of west Texas which is where I photographed this male in September, 2004, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 300 mm F4 L IS lens with a 2X extender and 550 EX flash.

In September, 2005, John Abbott and I again visited Chinati Hot Springs which is where the male above was photographed a year earlier. We found Fiery-eyed Dancers to be locally common at this spot and took many photos. An assortment of these photos are posted below showing males, females, pairs, etc. All images were taken with the same setup as above, but with a 580 Canon flash.
