The Flame-colored Tanager (Piranga bidentata) is a Mexican species which has occurred in the southwestern United States a few times. It can be a fairly common breeder in many Mexican mountain ranges. The male shown here was photographed in March, 2003, on the edge of cloud forest at El Triunfo, Chiapas, Mexico. The shots were taken with a Canon EOS D60 and EF 300 mm F/4 L IS lens and 1.4X extender.
