The Galapagos Fur Seal (Arctocephalus galapagoensis) is endemic to the Galapagos Islands. The top two shots of a sleeping animal shown here were taken at Darwin Bay, Genovesa Island (also known as Tower Island) on the Galapagos Islands in July, 2003. The seal is sleeping while a Swallow-tailed Gull keeps watch. The bottom shot was at James Bay of another sleeping fur seal. Following these top 4 shots will be more images from another visit, in July, 2007.

The next 7 images were taken in the Galapagos Islands in July 2007, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 100-400mm F/4.5-5.6 L IS lens. The animal in the next 3 shots was drying off in the sun. The dry fur is light brown while the fur which is still wet is dark.
