The Green-crowned Brilliant (Heliodoxa jacula) occurs from the Caribbean slope of Costa Rica southward into Ecuador. Below is a male and to the right are two shots of females. These were photographed in October, 1995, at Chacons, 15 km SSE of Tres de Junio, Provincia de San Jose, Costa Rica. A Canon T-90 and FD 400mm F4.5 lens from a BushHawk shoulder mount with a Fresnel flash and Fuji Sensia 100 film was used.
