The Giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis) is one of the characteristic large mammals that one may see when visiting game parks in much of southern Africa. The Giraffe is the tallest animal in the world with males approaching 20 feet in height and weighing over 4000 pounds! The images shown here were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 70-200mm F/2.8 L IS lens and 2X extender in January, 2006. The shots were taken at several different game reserves in South Africa including the Nylsvley Nature Reserve, Kruger National Park, and the Mauricedale Game Reserve.
