The Golden Dartwhite (Casasticta teutila) is a Mexican species which has not occurred in the United States. There is, however, a related species called the Mexican Dartwhite (C. nimbice) which has occurred in far west Texas. The two shots on the left were taken in March, 2005, in the El Triunfo Cloud Forest in the highlands of Chiapas, Mexico, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender. The butterfly was perched on some rocks at the edge of a stream in a clearing.
