The Green Mango (Anthracothorax viridis) is fairly large hummingbird of the mountain regions of Puerto Rico. It is often found in coffee plantations and regularly feeds on Heliconia flowers. Like the Puerto Rican Emerald, this species can also occur along the southwestern coast. This bird was photographed on the grounds of Hacienda Juanita's near the town of Maricao. It was photographed with a Canon T90 & FD400mm F4.5 lens and a 50 mm extension tube on Fuji Sensia 100. A Fresnel flash was also used. The photos were shot hand-held with the camera and lens on a BushHawk shoulder mount.
