The Green-winged Teal (Anas crecca) breeds across the northern United States and Canada and winters across the southern United States and Mexico. The species is a common fall, winter, and spring visitor across south and coastal Texas. The two top photos on this page of male Green-winged Teal were taken at Port Aransas, Nueces Co., Texas in February, 2001, with a Canon EOS 3 and EF 500 F4L IS lens with a 2X extender on Fuji Velvia pushed one stop. A Gitzo tripod and Wimberley head were also used. The next two shots, of a female, were taken at the same location in February, 1999, with a Canon EOS 1N and EF 300mm F/2.8 L lens and 2X extender.

The below image of a male Green-winged Teal was taken in Austin, Travis Co., Texas in March, 2005, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens and 1.4X extender.
