The Hispid Cotton Rat (Sigmodon hispidus) is a widespread and commn rodent in the southeastern United States westward into Arizona and south into Mexico. It is common on farms, prairies and overgrown pastures. The shots here were taken in Starr Co., Texas in November, 2004, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 500mm F/4 L IS lens.
