The Kirby's Dropwing (Trithemis kirbyi) is widespread over much of Africa. It occurs well into the Middle East, parts of Asia and on many islands in the Indian Ocean. The top photo of a male was taken near Nylsvley, Limpopo Province, South Africa and the next shot was taken at a pond near Nelspruit, Mpumalanga Province, South Africa. Both images were taken in January, 2006, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender with a 580 flash.
