The Lava Lizard (Microlophus spp.) occupies many of the Galapagos Islands. There are a number of different species involved, but getting a good handle on which species is where and the visual characteristics in separating them out is more than I had time to do. Most are just referred to as "Lava Lizard" and that is the way I will list there here. The top 4 images were taken in July, 2003, on the Galapagos Islands with a Canon EOS 10D and EF 70-200 F/2.8 L IS lens and 2X extender. Also, go to the Marine Iguana page to see a Lava Lizard sitting on the head of one of the iguanas. Scroll down for more shots. |

The next five shots show several more Lava Lizards on the Galapagos Islands, but in July, 2007. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 100-400mm F/4.5-5.6 L IS lens.
