The Lavender Dancer (Argia hinei) is found fairly commonly in the southwestern U.S. from west Texas to southern California. The single male and tandem pair shown in the top 2 shots on this page were shot in Presidio Co., Texas in September, 2004, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 300 mm F/4 L IS lens with a 2X extender and 550 EX flash.

Interestingly, this species has a few records in central Texas. Below are a couple shots from two different sites where this species has been found in the Texas Hill Country. The top shot of the two below was taken in Travis Co., Texas near Austin in May, 2005. The lower shot showing a pair in tandem was taken in Bandera Co., in April 2005. Specimens from both these sites are in the U.T. collection.
