The Little Blue Heron (Egretta caerulea) is essentially a bird of the southeastern United States, Mexico and Central America. It may also be found in parts of South America. It can be quite common in wetland habitats within its range. The individual to the left was in Fort Myers, Lee Co., Florida in November, 2006. This shot was taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 500mm F/4 L IS lens and 1.4X extender.

The immature Little Blue Heron below was in Kenedy Co., Texas in April, 2002
and was photographed with a Canon EOS 1V and EF 500mm F/4 L IS lens.

The adult Little Blue Heron below was at Chan Chich Lodge near Gallon Jug, Belize, in December, 1999. The photo was taken with a Canon EOS 1N and
an EF 300mm F/2.8 L lens and 2X extender on Fuji Provia film.

Immature Little Blue Herons have white plumage. The bird on the left was at Brazos Bend State Park in February, 1998, and was photographed with a Canon T-90 and a Sigma 500mm F/4.5 lens on Juji Sensia.
