The Little Scarlet (Crocothemis sanguinolenta) is widespread over much of Africa and parts of Asia. The photos of a male shown here were taken along Whisky Creek near Pilgrim's Rest, Mpumalanga Province, South Africa in January, 2006, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender with a 580 flash.
