The Moustached Clubtail (Gomphus adelphus) primarily occurs in the northeastern U.S. as well as southeast Canada, but it also ranges south along the Appalachians rarely as far south as North Carolina and Georgia. The female shown here in the top shot was photographed along the Ottawa River at Fitzroy Harbour, Ottawa Co., Ontario, Canada. The lower two shots of a male were taken on the Petawawa River, Renfrew Co., Ontario, Canada. All shots were taken in July, 2005, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens with a 2X extender and 580 EX flash.
