Danaus gilippus
The Queen (Danaus gilippus) is a resident of the extreme southern United States and Mexico, but may individuals wander northward in the summer. The image of a pair in copula shown here was taken on the King Ranch, Kleberg Co., Texas, in October, 2003, with a Canon EOS 10D and an EF 70-200mm F/2.8 L IS lens and 2X extender.
