The Pacific Spiketail (Cordulegaster dorsalis) is a dragonfly of mountain streams and bogs in the western United States. It is fairly common in some locations, but it may be hard to find one perched. Such was the case in late July, 2008, in the Malheur National Forest, Grant Co., Oregon, when the only images I could get of the species were hand-held. The top 2 shots show a female while the 3rd shot shows a male.
