Within the United States, the Pale-banded Crescent (Phyciodes tulcis) only occurs in south Texas. The one in the top two images on the left was at Santa Ana N.W.R., Hidalgo Co., Texas, in October, 2004. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and an EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.
