 Paulet Island
Paulet Island is home to more than 100,000 breeding pairs of Adelie Penguins during the summer (October-February) season in Antarctica. On the photo above, taken from a ship a mile or so away, the brown area at water level in the center of the island, is all Adelie Penguins. Paulet Island is located on the east side of the Antarctic Peninsula and is often hard to reach due to pack ice. The above photo was taken in February, 2001 with a Canon EOS 3 and EF 20-35 mm wide angle lens on Fuji Velvia. The iceberg below was photographed in this same area with an EF 70-200 F2.8 lens.
