The Plateau Spreadwing (Lestes alacer) is a species of the southwestern U.S., but it also occurs in Mexico. The below three shots are digital captures from Travis Co., Texas in April, 2004. They were shot with a Canon EOS 10D and an EF 70-200 mm F/2.8 L IS lens and 2X extender and 550 EX flash.

The female Plateau Spreadwing in the image on the left was near Austin, Travis Co., Texas, in mid March, 2008. This individual was opening and closing its wings and this shot shows the wings closed. The image was taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.

The female Plateau Spreadwing on the left and the male just below were in Bastrop State Park, Bastrop Co., Texas, in May, 2008. These shots were taken with the same gear described just above.
