The Northern Raccoon (Procyon lotor) is a widespread mammal of most of North America and parts of Mexico. It is found in a variety of habitats from woodlands to swamps and marshes to riparian areas. The three shots on the left show a Raccoon foraging in water on a November morning on Sanibel Island, Lee Co., Florida, in 2006. The shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 500mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.

The Racoon on the left was visiting a wildlife feeder near Pearsall, Frio Co., Texas, in November, 2007. This shot was taken with the same gear described above.
