The Rainpool Spreadwing (Lestes forficula) only occus in Texas within the United States, but it ranges south to Argentina. It is often quite uncommon in Texas, but occasionally can be found regularly in appropriate habitat. This shot was a digital capture at Bentsen Rio Grande State Park, Hidalgo Co. Texas in October 2003 with a Canon EOS 10D and EF 70-200 mm F2.8 L IS lens with a 2X extender and 550 EX flash.
