The Regal Darner (Coryphaeschna ingens) is a dragonfly of the southeastern United States which reaches its western limits in east and occasionally central Texas. In May 2004 I saw a female Regal Darner ovipositing from a small lily pad in an east Texas pond in San Jacinto County and was able to get a few quick shots with a Canon EOS 10D and EF 70-200 mm F/2.8 L IS lens with a 2X extender and 550 EX flash.
