The Ringed Kingfisher (Ceryle torquata) is a widespread kingfisher of the Americas, occurring from southern Texas all the way to the southern tip of South America. The males shown in the top 3 images were photographed in southern Tamaulipas, Mexico, in December 2004. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.
The three shots of the Ringed Kingfisher in flight on the left were also photographed in southern Tamaulipas, Mexico, but in May, 2007. These images were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 500mm F/4 L IS lens and 1.4X extender.
