The Ruby-spotted Swallowtail (Papilio anchisiades) occurs uncommonly in far south Texas. The species has been known to wander as far north as Kansas. The top 2 shots here were taken near Rio Grande City, Starr Co., Texas in November, 2003, with a Canon EOS 10D and an EF 70-200mm F/2.8 L IS lens and 2X extender.
