| The Scaled Quail (Callipepla squamata) is a resident of south and west Texas, and most of New Mexico. It also occurs in parts of Arizona, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Colorado as well as a wide area in northern Mexico. The first three shots here were taken in Starr Co., Texas, in November, 2004, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens. The bottom two shots showing the two birds on a fence and a single bird on the ground with some flowers, were taken with the same equipment near Marfa, Presidio Co., Texas, in September, 2005. |
