Scarlet Ibis (Eudocimus ruber) is a widespread species on the llanos of Venezuela. These birds (apparently a sub-adult in the foreground with an adult to the right) were photographed at Hato El Cedral, Apure, Venezuela, in April, 1992. The photos were taken with a Canon T-90 & Sigma 500mm F4.5 lens mounted on a Bogen tripod. Kodachrome 64 film was used. Numerous Wattled Jacanas (Jacana jacana) are also visible in the photo at left.

The Scarlet Ibis at left is next to a Brazilian Duck (Amazonetta brasiliensis).
