The Seaside Dragonlet (Erythrodiplax berenice) is a small dragonfly which occurs in coastal areas of the eastern and southern U.S. It has also been found at a number of inland locations at saline lakes. The top 4 images here were shot in September, 2003 in Refugio Co., Texas with a Canon EOS 10D and EF 70-200mm F/2.8 L IS lens with a 2X extender and 550 EX flash.

The image on the left is an example of an all black female Seaside Dragonlet. This image as well as the next three were taken in the extreme s.e. corner of Texas at Texas Point, Sabine Pass, Jefferson Co., Texas, in June, 2008, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.

The next two images on the left show different female color forms of this species.

This perky male Seaside Dragonlet strikes a nice pose in the morning sun.

The female on the left was perched on the bloom of a Shrimp Plant in High Island, Galveston Co., Texas, in June, 2008. The same gear described above was used to take this image.
