The Slender Spreadwing (Lestes rectangularis) is widespread across the eastern and central U.S., south to the Texas Panhandle. Its very long, slender abdomen is a useful field character. The male (top) and female (bottom) shown here in the first two images, were digital shots in Houston Co., Minnesota in July, 2004, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 300 mm F/4 L IS lens with a 2X extender and 550 EX flash.
