The Snowshoe Hare (Lepus americanus) occurs across most of Canada as well as Alaska and the northwest regions of the lower 48 states. The species is brown in summer and white in winter but it is known to reamin brown all year in parts of Washington and Oregon. This individual was photographed near Loomis, Okanogan Co., Washington in June 1998, with a Canon T90 and a Canon 400 mm f5.6 lens on Kodachrome 200.
