The Steppe Buzzard (Buteo vulpinus) is a common and widespread raptor of southern Africa. The individual on the left was perched on a fence post along side the highway near Dullstroom, Mpumalanga Province, South Africa, in January, 2006. The image was shot with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 500mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.
