The Stilt Sandpiper (Calidris himantopus) breeds in the high arctic tundra and winters along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico and much of Central America. The top 3 shots on this page were taken of a spring migrant in Austin, Travis Co., Texas, in May, 2008. These images were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens and 1.4X extender.
