The Swainson's Francolin (Pternistes swainsonii) is also called Swainson's Spurfowl (Francolinus swainsonii) by some authors. The species ranges across south and central Africa in woodlands, brushlands and farmlands. It has been widely introduced in many other areas. The one shown here was in Kruger National Park, South Africa, in January, 2006. The shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II & EF 500mm F/4L IS lens and 1.4X extender.
