The Swift Setwing (Dythemis velox) occurs in the southern U.S, but it is most common in Texas. The top two shots here were digital captures in Travis Co., Texas in June, 2003, and were shot with a Canon EOS 10D and EF 70-200 mm F2.8 L IS lens with a 2X extender and 550 EX flash. The 2nd shot shows a Swift Setwing with a large number of water mites on its thorax.
