The Thrush-like Schiffornis (Schiffornis turdinus), also called Thrush-like Manakin by some authors, is a bird of the lower levels of the forest. It feeds on insects and fruits. The bird is not brightly plumaged, and can be overlooked in dark understory, but if a male is singing it's presence is quickly known. This Thrush-like Schiffornis was photographed in November, 1991, in central Costa Rica with a Canon T-90 and FD 400mm F4.5 lens from a BushHawk shoulder mount with a Fresnel flash. Kodachrome 64 film was used.
