The Violet-crowned Hummingbird (Amazilia violiceps) occurs across much of western Mexico and parts of the extreme southwestern United States. The male shown here was photographed in April, 2003, in Patagonia, Santa Cruz Co., AZ. These are digital shots taken with a Canon EOS 10D and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens with a 1.4X extender.
