The White-eyed Vireo (Vireo griseus) is a common nesting species across much of the eastern half of the United States and parts of Mexico. It winters in the most southern areas of the U.S. and throughout Mexico into parts of Central America. The top two images here were shot in April, 2006, in Hidalgo Co., Texas with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens and a 1.4X extender.

The shot below was taken in Kenedy Co., Texas, in April, 2002. This White-eyed Vireo had just hopped up on a limb after bathing at a small water hole. The shot was taken with a Canon EOS 3 and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens and 1.4X extender onFuji Velvia film.

The next five images on the left were taken in Starr Co., Texas, in April, 2007, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 500mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.
